Bandwidth Management in IntServ to DiffServ Mapping
نویسندگان
چکیده
This work presents a bandwidth management mechanism to be used with mapping mechanisms between Integrated Services (IntServ) and Differentiated Services (DiffServ) domains. The mapping mechanisms have a dynamic nature and are associated with the Admission Control functions such that the state of the network is reflected in the admission decisions of new IntServ flows into the DiffServ network. The work is focused in the mapping between the IntServ Controlled-Load (CL) service and the DiffServ Assured Forward (AF) Per-Hop-Behaviour group. The proposed bandwidth management mechanism evaluates the bandwidth needs of the AF classes in the DiffServ domain taking into account the behaviour of the previously mapped CL flows for the same IntServ destination network. The results obtained by simulation show that the mechanism improves the use of the available bandwidth for a given AF class. The mapping mechanisms detects Quality of Service (QoS) degradation occurrences and once detected the control mechanism allows the reestablishment of AF Class QoS.

Dynamic Mapping between the Controlled-Load IntServ Service and the Assured Forward DiffServ PHB
This work addresses the interconnection of the IntServ and DiffServ models. In particular, new mapping mechanisms between the Controlled-Load service (CL) of the IntServ model and the Assured Forward (AF) Per-HopBehaviours group of the DiffServ model, are proposed and analysed by simulation. The proposed mechanisms have a dynamic nature and they are associated to an admission control such that ...
متن کاملAn End-to-End QoS Adaptation Architecture for the Integrated IntServ and DiffServ Networks
In this paper, we propose an end-to-end quality of service (QoS) adaptation network architecture to guarantee service qualities for mobile users, according to user requirements and available network resources on the end-toend path which is across the wired backbone DiffServ network and wireless IntServ networks. Further, we adopt the bandwidth broker (BB) for resource allocations and COPS-SLS p...
متن کاملDynamic User-Oriented QoS Specification and Mapping for Multimedia Differentiation Services
This paper proposes the Dynamic User-Oriented QoS Framework (DUQF), which provides the effective adaptation control schemes for dynamic QoS specification and mapping based on the combination of DiffServ and IntServ network architecture. A DUQF network consists of a DiffServ WAN and lots of attached IntServ LANs that connect to each other via a RSVP-aware router and a differentiation edge router...
متن کاملUse of COPS for Intserv operations over Diffserv: architectural issues, protocol design and test-bed implementation
This paper describes a solution for the Intserv operations over Diffserv network, based on the use of a Bandwidth Broker for the resource allocation. The Architectural scenario is described, which is based on the current IETF work in this area. For the communication of the admission control request to the Bandwidth Broker, the use of COPS protocol is proposed and the detailed protocol specifica...
متن کاملDynamic Resource Management Technique with Advance Reservation over QoS-provisioned Networks
Works on QoS-enabled IP networks have led to two distinct approaches: the integrated service (IntServ) and the differentiated service (DiffServ) architectures. To address the tradeoff between service guarantee and scalability, a resource manager (a.k.a. bandwidth broker: BB) can be employed to complement the IntServ/RSVP with the DiffServ in the pursuit of end-to-end QoS. One major component of...
